I have been an avid followerof the lead india intiative and in particular yor achievements . you are the lee kwan yew, of india and I wish that you willbe selected today as zonal leader. when I wanted to vote for you and logged in toi website i did not succeed as I not have a mobile . I retired from SBI in 2000 and am eager to meet and associate with you in yourefforts.I wish,in utter selfishness that you become the governor of Karnataka first and show case to whole of India what enlighted leadership can do.     IN MY STUDY, ONE MAJOR REASON FOR TRAFFIC BLOCK IN OUR ROADS, IS THE CROSS TRAFFIC AT A JUNCTION ALONG THE ROUTE. FOR

    EXAMPLE, IF WE TAKE HOSUR ROAD, THE TRAFFIC TOWARDS HOSUR OR VICEVERSA IS AFFECTED WHEN THE CONTINUOUS FLOW IS STOPPED, WHEN

    THE CROSS TRAFFIC IS PERMITED. IF A SHORT FLYOVER IS MADE AT EVERY JUNCTION IN THE BUSY DIRECTION, THAT TRAFFIC WILL

    CONTINUE RELENTLESSLY. IF THERE R TWO LANES IN ONE DIRECTION, THE FLYOVER CUD B WITH ONE LANE, IN EACH DIRECTION, THE

    LOW-SPEED LANE STILL HAVING THE ROAD ON THE GROUND. I FEEL THAT, THIS WILL DEFINITELY EASE THE TRAFFIC, IF ALL THE

    JUNCTIONS IN THE DIRECTION OF HEAVY TRAFFIC, HAV THESE SHORT FLYOVERS. THE COST CUD B A MEAGRE 5>10% OF THE COST OF AN

    ELIVATED HIGHWAY, PERHAPS WITH A 60>70% ADVANTAGE. I EVEN FEEL THAT, THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE RAISED ROAD TO ELECTRONIC

    CITY, MAY NOT HAV BEEN NECESSARY. WHAT TERRIBLE COST, WE R INCURRING NOW? WE DID NOT TRY TO LOOK AT THE REASON FOR THE

    TRAFFIC JAM AND TRIED TO SOLVE THE ROOT-CAUSE. WE CUD EVEN BUILD A SAMPLE FLYOVER AND STUDY THE OUTCOME.

    PREFABRICATED IRON OR CONCRETE BRIDGES WILL CUTDOWN CONSTRUCTION AND TRAFFIC DISLOCATION DELAYS.



    I WISH TO SPEND SOME TIME FOR THE PUBLIC BETTERMENT; BUT THE PITY IS THAT, THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS R NOT INTERESTED IN

    SMALL PROJECTS; THEY HAV THE EYES ONLY ON MAJOR PROJECTS AND THE PERCENTAGES.

    3===ALWAYS AT THE JUNCTIONS AND INSIDE CITIES AND TOWNS, THE NUMBER OF LANES MUST B INCREASED TO EASE THE TRAFFIC, ATLEAST

    ON THE HIGHWAYS.

    4===MANY ROADS, NOW HAV VERY BROAD PATHWAYS, THESE MUST B REDUCED TO SAY, 1.5 METERS AND THE REST MUST B ADDED TO THE ROAD.

    5===FEASIBILITY OF MAKING THE DRAINS SUFFICIENTLY DEEP AND SUFFICIENTLY BROAD, SO THAT, A WORKER CUD MOVE INSIDE, TO CLEAR

    DEBRIS AND SO ON, AT TIMES. NOW-A-DAYS, THEY OPEN THE TOP OF THE DRAINS TO DO THE JOB AND THEN THE CLOSING BAK IS DONE

    SHABBY. NOW DRAIN CLEANING IS A PROJECT. CREATION OF A PROJECT ALWAYS DELAYS THE JOB, WHILE GOING INSIDE THE DRAIN AND

    MAJOR ROAD AND ADDITION OF ONE MORE HUMP WILL ADD ONLY A SMALL % EXTRA DELAY, BUT WILL PROVIDE COFORTABLE AND SAFE PASSING

    TIME TO THE CROSS TRAFFIC.

    11===AT APPROPRIATE DISTANCES, WASTE-BINS MUST B FITTED ON SAY, ELECTRIC POSTS, WHICH CUD EASILY B EMPTIED BY CLEANING

    STAFF, INTO THEIR CARRY-BINS. WE MUST START EDUCATING THE PUBLIC IN KEEPING THE ENVIRONMENT CLEAN AND START PENALISING

    LATER. WE INDIANS CLEAN SHOPS AND HOUSES AND THROW THE DEBRIS ON THE ROAD. AN EDUCATIONAL COMPAIGN MUST B UNDERTAKEN TO

    YEARS TO REACH THAT MATURITY.

    12===EVEN OLD TREES MUST B CUT AND REMOVED OR IF POSSIBLE TRANSLOCATED TO PERMIT WIDENING OF THE ROADS. PLANT NEW SAPLINGS,

    SAY 2 IN PLACE OF ONE OR EVEN MORE, KEEPING IN MIND, THEIR GROWTH AND PROBABLE HINDRANCES TO TRAFFIC, IN FUTURE.

    13===WHEREVER POSSIBLE, PLANT THE NEW TREES, IN THE COMPOUNDS OF PRIVATE PROPERTIES, NEAR THE ROADS, WITH THEIR PERMISSION,

    FOR EXAMPLE, MILITARY AREAS, EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS ETC.

    14===SINCE OUR ROADS R NARROWER FOR THE TRAFFIC THEY HANDLE AND WE R TRAVELLING LIKE SHEEP IN A HERD, ALMOST TOUCHING

    EACHOTHER, I FEEL THAT, INSTEAD OF USING INTERNATIONALLY ACCEPTED WIDTH FOR OUR LANES, WE MUST DRAW NARROWER LANES, SO THAT

    WE CUD TRY TO GET THE PUBLIC LEARN LANE-DESCIPLINE. WITH THE PRESENT LANES DRAWN ON THE ROADS, THE VEHICLES WUD FILL OR

    EVEN OVERFLOW THE ROADS BETWEEN JUNCTIONS.

    15===THE ELECTRICAL TRANSFORMERS, SWITCHGEARS, TELEPHONE DISTRIBUTION CABINETS ETC., NOW OCCUPY PATHWAY SPACE HINDERING

    PEDESTRIAN MOVEMENTS. THEY MUST BE MOUNTED OVER CONCRETE PLATFORMS, UNDER WHICH THE PEDESTRIANS CUD WALK. THIS HAS TO BE

    IMPLEMENTED, MERCYLESSLY. TRUE, THERE CUD B TERRIBLE OBJECTIONS.

    NECESSARY MEASURING GADGETS, WHICH MEASURES THE MAXIMUM NOISE LEVEL PRODUCED BY A VEHICLE, IT WILL HELP IN REDUCING

    NOISE-POLUTION AND ALSO FINANCIALLY, ENRICHING THE TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT.

    MANUFACTURERS R PRODUCING 2-STROKE ENGINES, JUST TO KEEP THE PRICE A LITTLE LOW, SINCE THE TWO-STROKE ENGINES DO NOT HAV

    VALVES. THE TWO STROKE VEHICLES ADD TO THE POLUTION, BY EXHAUSTING UNBURNED FUEL, BURNED AND UNBURNED LUBRICATING OIL,

    SMOKE ETC.

    GOVERNMENT MUST BY LAW BAN THE PRODUCTION OF TWO-STROKE VEHICLES, AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE NOTICE.

    21===THE POTHOLES MUST BE FILLED SUCH THAT, THEY DO NOT REAPPEAR AT THE SAME PLACE, ATLEAST FOR 2/3 YEARS. IF THEY DO

    APPEAR, NOT ONLY THAT, THE CONTRACTOR/ENGINEER HAVE TO REDO IT BUT ALSO HAVE TO PAY A PENALTY TO THE BBMP.

    22==="DEFENSIVE DRIVING" PRACTICES MUST BE TAUGHT IN THE DRIVING SCHOOLS COMPULSARILY. DRIVERS MUST BE TAUGHT ABOUT THE

    IMPORTANCE OF THE SIDE WING MIRRORS AND THEIR ROLE IN REDUCING ACCIDENTS. THE TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT MUST ENLIGHTEN THE DRIVING

    SCHOOLS AND REFRESHER TRAINING MUST BE GIVEN, WITH GENUINE TESTS, TO THE EXISTING DRIVING INSTRUCTORS. NOW THE DRIVING

    SCHOOLS TEACH ONLY "HOW TO DRIVE", BUT NOT "HOW TO DRIVE SAFELY".

    23===IF NECESSARY, LAND MUST BE PROCURED AND ROAD WIDENED, WHEREVER POSSIBLE. IF IT IS GOVERNMENT OR TRUST INSTITUTIONS, IT

    MAY BE EASIER THAN PURELY PRIVATE LAND.

    24===I HAVE READ ABOUT ONE KIND OF MONORAIL, WHICH HANGS DOWN, FROM BELOW THE BRIDGE-LIKE STRUCTURE ON BOTH SIDES. THE TOP

    BEING USED AS A NORMAL ROAD. IN THIS CASE THE STRUCTURE WILL SERVE AS ANOTHER ROAD OVER THE EXISTING ROAD AND THE MONORAILS

    HANGING DOWN, THE TOTOAL COST OF WHICH WILL BE MUCH LESS, SINCE THE STRUCTURE IS SHARED. THIS WILL HELP WHERE MORE LAND IS

    NOT AVAILABLE FOR EXPANSION. I DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE GOOD AND BAD ABOUT IT.

    25===PLASTIC BAGS MUST BE BANNED IN A PERIOD TIME, PROMOTING BAGS OF NATURAL FIBRES, SUCH AS, COIR, JUTE, COTTON, ETC.

    THICK, BROWN PAPER BAGS, IN WHICH CEMENT IS PACKED, IN SOME COUNTRIES, IS VERY STRONG AND WILL BE A GOOD SUBSTITUTE.

    SO THAT, CUTTING OF THE ROADS MUST NOT BE NECESSARY FOR UTILITIES. ROAD-CUTTING PERMISSION MUST NOT BE GIVEN AND IF EVER

    GIVEN, THE REPAIR ALSO MUST BE DONE THEN AND THERE.

    27===REMEASUREMENT IS TO BE DONE, WHERE NECESSARY, TO IDENTYFY ENCROACHMENT, ON ROADSIDES.

    28===THE HIGHWAYS MUST HAVE MORE NUMBER OF LANES NEAR TO THE JUNCTIONS. THIS WILL DEFINITELY REDUCE TRAFFIC CONGESTION,

    SINCE, ROAD-JUNCTION CONTRIBUTE TO A GREAT EXTENT, IN INCREASING CONGESTION. UNTIL WHERE TRAFFIC EASES, THERE MUST BE THREE

    BITUMEN AND AGAIN LAID AS A SINGLE LAYER OF SAY 6>8 INCHES THICKNESS. BETTER QUALITY CONTROL OF RATIO, PROPER HOMOGENIOUS

    MIXING FOR SUFFICIENTLY LONG TIME UNDER GOOD HEAT, SO THAT, OLD BITUMEN ALSO WUD MELT AND FUSE, MONITORING OF THE THICKNESS

    OF THE ROAD BEING REMOVED AND LAID, ETC., ARE IMPORTANT. GAURANTEE PERIOD MUST B SUFFICIENTLY LONG, WITH NOT ONLY REPAIR,

    Thank you very much for writing. I feel that you have touched almost on every aspect of Civic Governance and City Management. I have been TRYING to convince GOVT with similar suggestions. Some were adopted as part of BTRAC (Traffic Plan). But with the Govt gone, it will be sidelined.
    I was happy to see our governor mentioning about his concerns on BLR traffic. I will try to meet him and see if he is willing to entertain me and my suggestions.

    Lets be in touch and see what can be done. Lets not loose hope:)

    I want to meet you to discuss about my 2 year old active Trust; "Sahajananda Computer-aided Rural Education and Development Trust" abbreviated as SACRED Trust. I have been lucky to be able to spread computer literacy among the rural school children and youth in Kanakapura tq. There are now 14 computer training centres, about 700 children are learning computer free of cost organised by my Trust. Over 600 children have undergone training last year.I am also maintaining 3 tailoring training centres in 3 village. There is so much demand by the rural school chldren and youth for learning computers, I have been unable to keep pace with the demand.     I think the idea that one person can make difference is absurd and find whole exercise meaningless.

    What has happend is in the name of Democracy and welfare, a system is created, which is run for itself. Unfortunately, it has degenerated into a system which is run for the benefit.
    Take the case of eductaion, even though idea of basic eductaion to all is wonderful, is it practically possible ?
    What about faculty, infratstructure etc. How the funding requirements will be addressed. What about jobs to them ? Then impact on environment
    Can the problem of corruption can be addressed with adressing the issue of character ?
    What will build the character - Bollywood, western ideas, leaders or what ?
    The fact is the Western/British/Communist Model, which was adopted, is just not working any more and no solution to the problems can be found the current approach. The influence of Western concepts in our mind is so overwhelming that we are not looking at its impact.
    If Greg Chappel cannot understand local culture and cannot bring about changes in team, how are adopted wetsren ideas going to work.
    The problem of poverty is not addressed by any of the proposed solution? All that is shown is some concern for poor, without actually understanding what creats poverty.

    These may be negative ideas, but if things have not worked out in last 60 years in our country and for more than 100 years in other countries, one has to really see whether these ideas can ever solve them.

I have set a base for spreading computer literacy in Rural Karnataka, free of cost to village children and youth, by establishing a Trust-"SACRED Trust"in April 2005. It is registered and recognised by the Director of Income Tax until 2010 and by Karnataka branch of Sarva Shikshna Abhiyana.

    My Trust is successfully running 17 computer training centres with 42 computers, in Kanakapura tq, Ramanagaram district. About 800 children are learning computers. It has created jobs to 8 teachers and assistants all residing in villages. The Trust is meant to help education of children in the age group of 8 to 16 years. It is also meant to create non-agri based jobs in villages. It is one of your ideas.

    First of all congrats on winning the Lead India campaign. I wish to highlight the woes faced by the people working in the city specially the IT . I work near ITPL travelling from KR Market and it is horrible to travel from Big bazaar (Old madras road) to KR Puram railway station . The Govt is a mute spectator to this . I hope you can do some public private participation and help to improve the condition of the road.
